The Mint in Muscat + Mint:
The fresh mint in our Muscat + Mint comes from Riverview Herbs in Nova Scotia. The mint is added to the wine as an infusion. Infusion is a process often called steeping; the flavours from the mint are introduced by suspending the leaves in the wine over time ~ much like the way you make a fresh pot of tea! It adds a fresh Mojito-style hint of mint to the wine.
Incredibly economical ~ our 250ml cans are equal to an 8oz glass of wine which is also 1/3 of a 750ml bottle of wine.
Occasionally you may discover what look like little crystals in the bottom of the can. What you’ve discovered are typically referred to as wine crystals or wine diamonds. They are a natural occurrence in all wines and there are various possible reasons for their occurrence in a bottle or can of wine. As one example, if the wine was exposed to colder than normal temperatures (e.g. a bar-fridge or chiller) it can throw these crystals. Ideally, we prefer to have this process happen before it is canned, but occasionally it happens afterwards. The formation of wine crystals is less common in red wines, as their level of tartaric acid is lower, and crystals tend to fall out naturally during the longer aging process.
Their scientific name is tartrates and they are simply potassium bitartrate, which is the same thing as cream of tartar used in cooking. They are a very common, naturally occurring and not the least bit dangerous.
You can feel comfortable and confident in buying our wine—with or without wine diamonds the quality of the wine is not affected by this natural process.
Why we say diamonds are a wine drinker’s best friend! Some folks think they are good luck, but we know wine diamonds can actually be considered a sign of quality and evidence of a wine that has had minimal intervention and less processing.
LÜVO wines are truly Nova Scotian ~ they are blends ~ the grapes come from grape growers and wineries from throughout our province. Did you know Nova Scotia is located on the same latitude as some of the world’s finest wine growing regions?
LÜVO is canned at Jost Vineyards.
Our wines are made by the LÜVO Life winemaking team. Headed by award-winning winemaker Gina Haverstock, our team members also work with some of the best loved wineries in Nova Scotia.
LÜVO is a passion project that allows our team the opportunity to create remarkable wines that are have a particular style & a profile that is fresh and fruity but remarkably still sophisticated.
We like to think of it as members of several famous bands collaborating to release a fresh new sound.
LÜVO Sparkling Rosé is the first canned wine to win a Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Nova Scotia Wine.
What is Piquette:
Piquette is a wine style that has been trending over the last few years, but its roots are old. It was originally produced as a refreshing, light and affordable drink for vineyard workers— it has seen a resurgence in popularity for the same reasons.
Piquette is made from the fresh grape pomace (skins and seeds) that remains after pressing out the juice for classically fermented white and Rosé wines.
There are still heaps of aromatics and some juice remaining in the pomace, so with the addition of some water it can be pressed again to make piquette.
Both of our LÜVO Piquettes are made from piquette combined with classically-fermented white wine and an extra fruity splash to create refreshing spritzers.
Our LÜVO wines are all natural and gluten-free, there are no artificial ingredients, colours or additives. They are vegan since no animal based fining material is used. They do contain sulphites. Each can conatins 250 mls of wine which is equivalent to an 8oz glass of wine.
